Abstract

Axis, operating in the network technology industry, offers solutions for video surveillance, access control, intercoms and audio systems. These are enhanced with intelligent analytics applications and supported by high-quality training. Sustainability is an important and natural part of the company's operations. Axis inspires change in its company as well as in society. It is characterised by ecological thinking, ethical action, the well-being of people (not just employees) and transparency, among other things, when it comes to the innovations used within the company.

Relevance

Sustainability is at the core throughout its business. The four areas at the core of its business are respect for people, trustworthiness, responsibility for innovation and protecting the planet, and this is what Axis Communications bases its strategy on. Each year, the company carries out projects to explore how it can effectively offset or even reverse the impact of its processes on climate change. In addition, it offers cities services that help them work in a smarter and greener way.

Concepts addressed within ESG

Above all, every year it publishes its sustainability report drawn up in accordance with the principles of the Global Reporting Initiative.

The cornerstone of Axis Communications' business is respect for people. The company is guided by respect and ethics in everything it does. Credibility is also important to Axis, as it believes there is a right way to do business and has sought to lead the way in this from the very beginning. Axis takes responsibility for all its innovations. It acts transparently and always communicates how its innovations should be used, and expects the same from its partners. An ethics board evaluates all ethical issues regarding products and how they are used to ensure that human rights and the right to privacy are respected. It is also in the company's nature to think green. For this reason, it makes every effort to minimise the environmental impact of its activities, combat climate change, reduce its carbon footprint and use natural resources responsibly. From the production and life cycle of products, energy consumption, repair and replacement, transport and logistics, to placing high demands on all suppliers and partners.

Impact & Achieved Results

Thanks to the resilience and dedication of its employees, partners and supply chain, Axis has been able to remain uncompromising in the quality of its products and solutions and its sustainability efforts over the past years, even when times seemed at their toughest during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to the gradual improvement in supply over the past year, the company has been able to solidly stick to its goals as an ambitious growth company. Revenues at the end of the year were at a record high and the pace of recruitment continued to increase.

Indicators of performance and success

Achieving goals is based on the power of innovation and successful partnerships. This collaborative approach leads to breakthrough technologies that are already improving businesses, cities and people's lives around the world. It also unites suppliers, partners, customers and Axis in working together for a smarter and safer world. The company strives to ensure that its products, solutions and in-house operations have a positive economic, environmental and social impact, while minimising negative impacts and managing risks throughout the value chain.

Certifications

In 2023, Axis received a silver rating from Ecovadis, which independently assesses more than 85,000 companies on their CSR practices. Areas assessed include the environment, human and labour rights, ethics and sustainable sourcing.

Challenges and recommendations

Efforts and achievements in sustainable and ethical working practices across the value chain require reporting so that the company can be credible and build a network of partnerships through which it can contribute more to improving sustainable practices for the community and the environment.

Axis is exposed to a wide range of risks from a business, sustainability and liability perspective. For this reason, appropriate risk management is needed. It aims to increase corporate resilience, improve strategic decision-making, reduce the likelihood of adverse events and improve the company's ability to manage them if they occur. The company's corporate governance department should also work efficiently to reduce the possible challenges and difficulties to be encountered.
