(English) Best Practices

Zielona Edukacja is an association operating in Poland, precisely in the city of Bytom. It has been active for several years and its aim is green education in the broadest sense. By this it means activating the local community to minimise social exclusion, promoting healthy lifestyles, organising fairs with healthy food, as well as all activities for the environment, sustainable development and educating the community in pro-ecological activities.

Zielona Edukacja is an association for a pro-ecological lifestyle, the formation of ecological attitudes, the improvement of the environmental management system and the running of businesses. The association's aim is the social activation of the inhabitants of Bytom and the surrounding towns and to counteract social exclusion. The association's activities serve to build family ties that keep local traditions alive, promote health, change bad eating habits and promote a healthy lifestyle. Since the beginning of our existence, we have run an eco-fair in the city of Bytom, many ecological and health themed workshops for children, young people and adults.

The aim of the association is the social activation of the inhabitants of Bytom and the surrounding towns, to counteract social exclusion. The association's activities serve to build family ties, maintain local traditions, promote health, change bad eating habits and promote a healthy lifestyle. In addition, the association disseminates the idea of the European Union in the field of ecology, national, regional and local initiatives, contributes to their implementation by participating in undertakings and projects to improve the quality of life and the environment, and supports individuals and organisations undertaking such activities. Zielona Edukacja is also the organiser of the so-called Eco Fairs in Bytom, which take place in the city every Wednesday. Thanks to these activities, local traditions are maintained and a healthy lifestyle is promoted at the same time.

Through its activities, Zielona Edukacja has already organised many initiatives and events of a local nature. Such events promote the association and give it publicity not only in Bytom, but also beyond. Participants in all kinds of events organised by Green Education have the chance to learn about many ecological practices and, as a consequence, they themselves implement environmentally friendly actions in their lives and daily habits. The association has been successful in counteracting social exclusion, helping people to build links, and promoting local culture and traditions.

The association does not aim to make a profit from its activities; its purpose is to act for the public. Due to its specific nature, Zielona Edukacja as an association can apply for special grants and funding to help the organisation grow and continue to promote pro-social and pro-ecological activities. Zielona Edukacja also has the opportunity to expand its activities to other cities, thus broadening the number of people associated with the association.
