Abstract

The company is engaged in online sales of household goods. The company operates two online stores, as well as having its own premium brand of kitchen hoods called GLOBALO. GLOBALO MAX's mission is to provide precise customer service at every stage of sales, as well as to provide products with sophisticated design, superior quality and meeting the highest standards of electro-efficiency and safety. Since its inception, it has been a 100% Polish family-owned company with a team of excellent professionals in their fields.


Relevance

Confirmation of GLOBALO MAX's concern for environmental issues is the implementation of an Environmental Policy covering all types of work carried out, processes, technologies and materials used. Related to all this is also the environmental aspect in the form of modification of the logistics model, thereby reducing the frequency of transportation. The company has also implemented a strategy to increase the efficiency of employees and Green Office. It is also involved in educating business customers on sustainable purchasing.


Concepts addressed within ESG

The company, wanting to show sensitivity and social responsibility towards people with disabilities, decided to implement such measures in its online sales. However, an upgrade of the e-store was necessary for this. In redesigning the shop, the guidelines described in the government regulation on the accessibility of website content for people with disabilities were taken into account.

Thanks to a signed agreement with manufacturers, some GLOBALO products are stocked directly at the manufacturer, from whom they are delivered directly to the customer. In addition, proprietary software has been developed and implemented to enable stock control and the search for the optimal transport subcontractor. As a result, there is no need to organise separate transports for individual orders. This has made it possible not only to reduce costs and improve logistics chain management, but also to reduce the environmental impact associated with the transport and storage of products.

GLOBALO has also implemented waste segregation and transfer to waste treatment organisations within the company.


Impact & Achieved Results

When it comes to a revamped online shop, the difference is huge. The new site is not just an e-shop, but a multifunctional website through which customers can obtain the information they need to make an informed and responsible choice of the appliance they are looking for, taking into account their aesthetic preferences. Here, issues of corporate social responsibility have met economic calculation and the strengthening of the company's competitiveness.

Also linked to the changes introduced is the environmental aspect

in the form of a modification of the logistics model and thus a reduction in the frequency of transport. From the Company ➞ Business ➞ Individual customer model, GLOBALO switched to the Company ➞ Individual customer model, with the possible use of combined transport, so-called multitransport, which is much better for the environment.


Indicators of performance and success

The success that the company has achieved through the introduction of sustainable practices is primarily due to the increase in sales of GLOBALO cooker hoods through the website by around 35 per cent shortly after the launch of the revamped website. Not to be overlooked here is also the increase in brand popularity, the modification of the logistics model to a more environmentally friendly one and the opening up to the needs of people with disabilities, particularly the visually impaired.


Challenges and recommendations

When it comes to the issue of redesigning an e-shop to make it more accessible to people with disabilities, only the cost of the project can become an issue. In order for the thing to be done professionally and in accordance with standards, GLOBALO MAX had to redesign practically the entire architecture of the e-shop. Such a service on the IT market can cost tens of thousands of Polish zloty. Therefore, in this situation, the best solution is to obtain a grant or financing for such an undertaking. When it comes to reducing the negative environmental impact caused by transporting products and storing them, the focus should be on transforming the supply chain accordingly and keeping transport to a minimum, which can be done by, among other things, finding an optimal transport subcontractor and not organising individual transports for single orders.
